CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Despite outcries from many in the community, the Algonquin natural pipeline expansion will go forward, thanks to a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ruling rejecting opponents’ efforts to reassess approval of the project, according to a report in lohud.com.

Opponents are concerned about the 42-inch pipeline's proximity to Buchanan’s Indian Point nuclear power plant, according to lohud.com.

FERC’s ruling in the matter took over nine months to reach, reports lohud.com.
