Theresa Gucciardo-Perry is outraged over a Halloween display on her quiet Northern Westchester street that attacks President Donald Trump and tells him to "Burn in Hell."
"I couldn't believe it when I saw the tombstone and body bag in front of the home," the Cortlandt Manor resident said. "I was in shock and just disgusted that this country has come to this."
The display, which includes a tombstone with the words "D. Trump Burn in Hell," along with crime scene tape and a trash bag fashioned to look just like a body bag.
The widow of White Plains police officer Michael Perry, who died seven years ago of a heart attack after chasing and arresting a suspect for shoplifting, Gucciardo-Perry moved her kids to what she thought was a nice neighborhood away from the crime.
Now, she's concerned with what's happening in the country and along her street.
"We have to get America back," she said. "I don't agree with the stupid things the president tweets and what he says, but Halloween is supposed to be a fun time for kids, not a political debate."
And, she adds: "Threatening the president is not funny."
The owner of the display is a man named Fabian.
But Gucciardo-Perry said the two had words Tuesday evening and he now plans to leave it up because he thinks she said for him to return to Ecuador if he doesn't like America.
"That's not what I said at all," she told Daily Voice. "I told him if he was unhappy he should try living in someplace like North Korea where they have no freedoms."
Early Wednesday, Gucciardo-Perry contacted Cortlandt officials about making her neighbor remove the display. But she was told he has First Amendment rights and they would have to check with a judge.
"I just want our country back and I want the kids to have fun on Halloween and a little respect between us all," she said.
Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville.
The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
