CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Croton Community Coalition will hold a drug take back on Saturday to help you dispose of expired or unused drugs.
Drugs can be dropped of at Croton Commons from 10 a.m to 10 p.m. The commons are located at 175 S. Riverside Ave. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse, according to police. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are increasing, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.
Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
