BUCHANAN, N.Y. -- When Buchanan resident Deborah Alston attended a taping of "The Price Is Right" she never expected to be told, "Come on dooooooown!"
Alston will be appearing on venerable game show on Monday morning at 11 a.m. on CBS.
"I was shocked when they called my name," Alston, who was in California because her niece was having a baby, said. "I loved the experience. It was so nice."
A "Price Is Right" fan since she used to watch the show when she was younger, Alston said she was in disbelief when they held up her name.
"I was excited and nervous," Alston said. "But it was all good."
When guests arrive at "The Price Is Right," they fill out paperwork, take pictures and are interviewed by the producers. Alston said people told her she was picked to play the game because she is so nice.
"People say I'm very friendly," Alston said. "I had a chance to meet so many people and have a lot of conversations. Everyone was very friendly."
Alston said Drew Carey, the host, was awesome and said he prevented her from falling when she spun the wheel. Alston also praised Carey for offering a $10,000 reward to help find the teenagers responsible who pranked a disabled teen by pouring urine on him during an ice bucket challenge.
"My heart goes out to him," Alston, whose son was disabled in the military and works with mentally disabled people, said. "I have the utmost respect for him."
For anyone who is attending a taping of "The Price Is Right," Alston said they should just go and have fun.
"It was such a worthwhile experience," Alston said. "It was just my luck that I got to play."
Alston, who cannot reveal the results of how she did before it airs, said all of her friends are taping it and her family is coming over to watch.
