The power plant, located in Buchanan, was mentioned on "The Simpsons" playing in a softball game against the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. The players were stereotypical New Yorkers with thick Noo Yawk accents, talking about the Mets, pizza and the Verrazano Bridge.

"How many Mets game can you postpone?" said one Indian Point player.

The Springfield team was dismissive of their Indian Point counterparts.

"They think they are so great because their fall-out radius includes Manhattan," Lenny Leonard said.

During the softball game, Mr. Burns, who runs the power plant discussed the future of nuclear power with the "owner" of Indian Point.

"No wants to go into this business," the "owner" of Indian Point said. "I'm thinking of getting solar.

In January, it was announced Entergy, which runs Indian Point would be closing the nuclear plant in 2020 and 2021, saying the plant is not economically viable to keep open.
