A little over three years ago, Justin Christopher left a position with a New York City-based nonprofit to launch Hand Crafted Services.
His New Rochelle company is all about supplying a personal touch to events, everything from corporate functions to affairs in someone's backyard.
“The name Hand Crafted comes from craft services, as on film sets,” said Christopher. “That was the original idea for the company, and we still do craft services for small film sets like commercials."
He considers his business -- a combination caterer, event planner, entertainment purveyor and manager ---as a kind of "contractor," organizing the others doing any of these and related roles.
Chefs are full-time with the company, but occasionally a specialty chef is brought on for an event. And Hand Crafted Services can also help provide staffing on a per-event basis.
This past October, Christopher and his team put together their largest affair yet, the centennial celebration for Bedford’s Rippowam Cisqua School.
“It was really a triumph,” said Christopher. “We had Jenn and Jim Vellano of Maison Prive in the kitchen and ran the whole event staffing, serving 621 guests in less than 21 minutes with no mistakes!"
His company's mission? To be a part of people’s special occasions.
Said Christopher: “We always try to make the client feel comfortable and relaxed so they can enjoy their event.”
