How can you lend moral support the troops over this holiday season? It might be easier than you think. White Plains obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Bonnie Eilen is working with Operation Support Our Troops and volunteers from White Plains Hospital to send care packages from local communities to U.S. soldiers deployed in the Middle East.
I am just a shopper and a shipper who is helping to give a little something over the holidays to the real heroes, our soldiers, says Dr. Eilen of her work on the project.
This week the hospital will be gathering donated items, which can include iTunes gift cards, new DVDs and magazines, socks, Christmas candy, decorations, dried fruit, books and other items typically found in Christmas stockings so they can be received by men and women of the armed forces stationed overseas in time for the Holidays.
Care packages should be labeled, Dear Hero or, Dear Soldier.
Operation Support Our Troops was founded in 2003. According to its website, its mission is to provide a process and forum for Americans of diverse interests, backgrounds and walks of life to come together to demonstrate to members of the Armed Forces and their Commander in Chief that they are supported and deeply appreciated for their service.
