Yesterday I left my warm well lite apartment at 2 in the afternoon to do some volunteer work, when I returned at about 8 in the evening Smith St. had lost power. To compound this when I called ConEd first they told me we had power, then we lost it Monday night, last to my shock I was told it was shut down so they could restore power else where! This is a outrage (if 100% true) the residents of Smith St did not have a chance to prepare, some might even have given supply's away.On Sat I gave my hurricane supply's away, batteries, water and so on. I understand the power might have been needed at a school or hospital but some courteousness would have gone a long way, I guess my neighborhood does not reach the prosperity level that requires courteousness. I love this one " the board felt blindsided" the city was blindsided by what the board did. Two weeks before the board locked the doors the chairman of the board was only talking about the great shows that were coming up at a very expensive fundraiser. I hope the city does a forensic audit to out where all the money went!! View Comment

What would you except laying off almost 50 people in a community the size of Peekskill is huge. Laying off 5 people is hard to do in the City of Peekskill. Now we will learn who it is we elected; it's easy to pass a budget with single digit tax increase and no layoffs. What the Common Council faces today will take a lot more brains and bit of guts. I am confidante they will get it right, it might take longer then usual ,but this council has what it takes. View Comment

I watched last nights Peekskill Planing Board meeting and cannot believe what they did. The board almost said they had no choice, they stopped short of that. The Common Council has already made clear how they feel and so has their attorney. It looks like it going to cost a lot more money to open a clinic in Peekskill; I wonder if it can still be profitable? View Comment

This is  not why we have citizen volunteers on the planning board, we except them to think as citizen not bureaucrats. This a kid friendly neighborhood that we should keep that way. Does anyone else find it curious that the Hospital can not "make enough profit" yet Renaissance Project can, what corners are they going to cut? A even better question is why would a for profit company want to cure clients of the very product they make a profit selling? How do you make a profit reducing your client base?  I will work as hard as I have to to make sure there is no profitable methadone clinic at 7 corporate drive. View Comment
