I don't remember ever seeing so many people changing parties back and forth, in my lifetime. They change parties more often than I change my underwear. When you take the nomination from a political party you would assume that you follow their general principals. Not so in Yorktown. The democratic party and the republican party are different and have different philosophies. The plain and simple differences are in taxes and how much the government intrudes into your life. So that when I see candidates switch parties for their own convenience, I wonder just what do they really believe in? We see a town councilmen who parades as a " conservative" but is not really. Republicans who were last year Democrats and vice versa.
This goes along with their political handouts. Notice that they never have their party affiliation in bold print. Are they afraid to state their party affiliation ? Do you really believe in your parties principles and practices? You need a core belief, a foundation. It does NOT mean you must vote the party line but at least have a base belief.
This mess has to be cleaned up. We need an odd number of councilman to get things done.
What Miriam fails to tell you when she posts this [The U.S. Supreme Court has made it entirely legal for wealthier citizens and corporations to “buy” elections with unlimited campaign contributions.] is that George Soros, the labor unions , Peter Lewis, and Steyer, Thomas & F. & Kathryn Ann " next generation" $20,453,034 contribute many more dollars than these big bad corporations. Does she fail to mention them or does she not know that they contribute so much money to the democratic party. ? She has no problem when a union backs a candidate and contributes to their campaign, does she? Why because she in fact is a Democratic operative at least follows the DNC talking points. She does not call the town council out for trying to link their future raises to the raises that are given in the union contracts.
Seems to me that she is the one with the agenda, to silence those who are not in agreement with the democrats. There are the people like Harry Reid that want to limit our first amendment rights. It seems that the supreme Court agrees with the little people like you and me still have the right to contribute to whom we want to. There are more than enough laws on the books to limit contributions to political parties. Maybe they might try enforcing the ones already on the books?
It seem that Mr. Wagner is NOT proud he is a democrat, if he was, it would be some place prominently displayed on his hand outs. The democrats can't get away with their part in our state losing people , jobs and at least three representatives in congress. It is no wonder he would try to hide the fact he and his party are the problem. This abortion issue is low on the totem pole when it comes to issues. We want JOBS and LOWER taxes. Do you remember when Hillary promised those things when she ran for senator? Cost of Living: Few View NYS as Affordable
More than three in four adults statewide — 77% — perceive New York to be an expensive place to live for the average family. Included here are a majority — 55% — who say the overall cost of living is not very affordable and 22% who report it is not affordable at all. However, 22% say it is affordable while only 1% thinks it is very affordable. Similar proportions of registered voters in New York State share these views.
So when you see those ads on television that say business are moving into New York and it is a great place to bring your business, question that. New York in NOT friendly not only to business's but to the average Joe. View Comment
However, he didn't believe the actions of the rioters were appropriate either. Well really? This one is a real pip [According to McLaughlin, the biggest lesson residents in Westchester can learn from Ferguson is that without proper police supervision, what happened to Brown could happen to anyone] This might not happened if he didn't punch the police officer in the face. It seems that some just won't see that. When you confront the police when they are trying to either talk to you or arrest you, then bad things can happen to you. Some people look with a jaundiced eye when it comes to an incident involving race. Unfortunatly they make a judgement based on that.It seems that professor Randolph McLaughlin , in my opinion is one of those people. View Comment
Truth, and you would probably be the first one to complain when the lights go out or we have no gas to heat or cook. But we know you are affluent and really don;'t care about the little guy. Typical of an environmentalist. View Comment
Get rid of corruption? That won't happen until you get rid of Sheldon Silver and the Democrats. Just look how many of them have gone off to prison lately. Teachout is even more to the left than Andrew if you even thought that was possible. View Comment
Looks Like we have some very bitter people posting here. They are probably the same people that have been voting for the do nothing councilman Bianco and the do even less, Seigal. More worried about signs than bringing business into Yorktown to help the little people with the burden of taxes. These are the same people that want to continue to purchase, with our hard earned tax dollars, OPEN SPACES. Never mind that open spaces continue to cost the taxpayer money year after year. They need to be maintained and bring in no revenue.
I guess there are some so affluent that they don't care about the rest of us struggling with the increased taxes the state, county and town have levied on us. Reminds me of that old saying , Democrats have never seen a tax they didn't like, in fact the answer to all our problems are to increase taxes. Do you wonder why New York State is in the financial shape it is in? Look to Albany and the Democrats.

So what did the NFL and the Ravens think happened to her? She starting hitting him and he punched her out. It was wrong Maybe at the time they thought she fell down and went boom? He punched her. He made a deal and in addition they got married. They knew what happened, just why did this " new video" change what happened? There was an agreement as to the punishment for this action. What is it do over time with the NFL and the Ravens? I can see lawyers making some money on this one. View Comment
Backed by the Working Families Party , that should say it all to you. Haven't we had enough of these liberals here in New York? We are at the bottom of the list when it comes to companies wanting to come her to start a business. We are #2 in the exit of people leaving for other states. You can thank the Democrats and their policies. I say to you Mr. Falk we New Yorkers have had enough with the Democrats and the Working Families Party. Look what we got with the last change. When will some women learn that they are NOT immune to retaliation. We live in a different time. When you raise your hands and strike someone, that someone may raise theirs also and strike back. Those days of gentlemen being nice have gone thanks to the women libbers. You expect men to hold the door for you but you take his job when you get the chance. The next time you raise your hands think about the person at the other end. Think about what they may do. That goes for both male and females. View Comment
Just like a Cuomo, never tells the truth. Bob Grant once said “Mario asentta mme. Tu sei propio nu’ sfaccime!” Translated : Mario, listen to me, you’re a real ‘sfaccime!’)
Now as to the word sfaccime, the closest translation in English is scum. [ an offensive term for a person or group of people regarded as contemptible or worthless ] I would guess that about sums them up.
She lives in her own little dream world. New York State is losing residents each and every day. Where are these jobs that she says are being created? New York State is at the very bottom of the list when it comes to places to start your business. It is however near the top of the list for taxes. View Comment
Acting just like a democrat. They, democrats seem to think they are not subject to the laws they pass. Just look at our President for example.
Comes election time please remember the Non-affortable Health Care Act that. Democrats like Mr. Maloney, helped pass. The one that was negotiated behind closed doors and with not one republican voting for it. View Comment
What else would you expect Mario Cuomo to say about his son? But the facts are there. You can see that he wasn't very good when he was with HUD. He is just another political hack. He is in bed with Sheldon Silver another political hack and probably even worse. Just look at all the scandals within the democratic organization in new York and all those that were arrested for corruption. It is a cover up. The democrats are really good at that. View Comment
In response to Draginc it seems that the writer must be a democrat. Why do I say that, you ask. Well if Draginc was a republican then has forgotten Ronald Reagen's 11th commandment, Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican. The party that is to blame here in New York is the Democratic party. Our state is losing its tax base. The seat in question is presently being held by Greg Ball and he has done a generally good job in bucking the tide of increased taxes and spending.
Something to think about: [And the winner for the worst state for taxes is . . . the Empire State. It's the worst state in the country when it comes to individual income taxes, likely due to its high top marginal tax rate of 8.82%. It ranks 45th for both unemployment insurance taxes and property taxes, and 38th for sales taxes. (It also has the highest tobacco taxes in the country -- $4.35 per pack of cigarettes.) Its best score was 23rd for corporate tax rates. New York was also among the top five outbound states in the United Van Lines migration study.] This is what a democratically controlled state does best. It is time for a change here in new York and that won't happen if Republicans don't get their act together. Andrew Cuomo and Sheldon Silver are the problems in part. Now when it comes to the election in November we have a republican and we have:
[ Justin R. Wagner- In addition to running on the Democratic ticket, Wagner is also running on the Working Families Party ticket.] I want you to take special note of his party affiliations. He is just another tax and spend Democrat. Just do a little research on the " Working Families Party" . Think your taxes are high now, just wait.
If we don't change something in Albany in November, we will no longer be the Empire State. We will be the broke Empire state.

This is the women that voted FOR the Non-affortable Care Act. It seems that she didn't care about her constituents then but now is worried about saving a few dollars for a few people. What abouit the cost of medical care? Did she not read the ACA before she voted on it? She is almost as bad as Chuck Schumer when it comes to press coverage. View Comment
