New Chimes At Bethel Church Pay Musical Tributes To Those With Addiction BETHEL, Conn. — Every hour on the hour, a beautiful sound can be heard coming from the United Methodist Church in Bethel — it's the sound of the newly installed chimes in the bell tower. The chimes pay tribute to those who have lost their lives to addiction — and to those who still struggle with the problem. “The chimes do a Westminster ring on the hour. And at noon and 6 p.m., they play a hymn,” said Senior Pastor John Parille. The church raised $14,000 through social media and a winter fundraiser in just two months to pay for the new chimes.  “Some people said they lost a child or famil…

But the lot at 28 Catoonah St. in Ridgefield, where the former Cumming house was torn down, still stands empty. Kathy McGroddy-Goetz, who lives on Catoonah Street, said she hopes something pretty is put on the property, which is next to the post office. "I'd like to see something attractive where people can gather, walk around and enjoy the community. It could provide a little bit of additional green space on our street," she said. "If people plant vegetables or flowers there, perhaps it can become a community garden. The h…

Pushups On A Bike? Newtown's Boostcycle Offers Upper Body Workout NEWTOWN, Conn. — When most people think of cycling, they think of a great workout — for their lower body.
