WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Players from Yorktown, Cortlandt and Croton-on-Hudson helped the Hudson Valley team take home the silver medal in the Middle School Division of the Empire State Cup Lacrosse Tournament after a hard-fought, 7-5 loss to the team from New York City in the championship game.
Max Popolizio of Cortlandt Manor (4 assists), Blake Borges of Yorktown (2 goals, 1 assist), Kyle Morrison of Croton-on-Hudson (1 goal) and Alex Fraioli of Yorktown (1 goal) led the Hudson Valley offensive effort in that game.
This is the second consecutive year that the Hudson Valley middle school boys won the silver medal. In 2014, the HV boys middle school team fell to Long Island in the final.
High school and middle school boys and girls teams from six regions of New York state participated in the games, held July 29-31 at Colgate University in Hamilton.
