Girardi, who grew up in Peoria, Ill., and was drafted as a player by the Chicago Cubs, is rumored to be a candidate for the team's vacant manager position.

Girardi has spent six seasons as the skipper in the Bronx and has compiled a 564-408 and a World Series title.
