Woodlands Girls Move On In Class B State Regional Basketball Playoffs

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Imani Tilford scored a team-high 18 points and the Woodlands girls basketball team defeated Highland 49-42 in the Class B state regional semifinals Tuesday at the County Center.

Woodlands, now 13-10, began the Section 1 tournament with  9-10 record and as seventh seed. The Falcons won their first-ever Section 1 title over Dobbs Ferry on Tilford's game-winning basket Saturday at the County Center.

The Falcons advanced to the state regional final against Hampton Bays to be played at New Rochelle High School Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m.

Seventh-grader Teisha Hyman teamed with Tilford to ignite Falcons offense scoring 17 and adding 10 rebounds. 

Woodlands led 38-26 after three quarters with Tilford scoring 13 and Hyman 11 through the third.

Woodlands' Section 1 boys basketball team also won its state tournament game today.
