PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The Westchester Striders will hold an invitational 1-mile race Saturday morning in Peekskill to raise money for its work with local youths.
The road race through downtown will benefit the not-for-profit, charitable 501(c) 3 organization, which is dedicated to providing track and field training to boys and girls ages 8-14.
The entry fee is $15 for adults and $10 for kids 14 and under. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the BeanRunner Café, located at 201 S. Division St. in Peekskill. There will be two heats:
Race One 10:30 a.m.
- Ages 7 and under, ages 8 to 10, 11 and 12.
Race Two: 11 a.m.
- Ages 13 to 14, 15 to 18
- Open: 19 and older
- Masters: 50 and older
Trophies will be given for the top male and female in each race. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners in each age group. Ribbons will be given to all participants and there will be raffles, water and snacks.

The event is followed by a 1 mile Turkey Trot for all ages. Bring a frozen turkey and register. Carry the turkey as you run. Prizes to the biggest turkey, best decorated turkey, most unusual turkey carry. All to turkey's to be donated to Jan Peek House and area food pantries. Awards ceremony 1 p.m. at the Quiet Man Public House
