Shane Macdonald Named Pelham Athlete Of The Week

PELHAM, N.Y. -- A Pelham Memorial High School senior who led his football team during an Oct. 29 playoff game has been named the district's Athlete of the Week.

On defense, Shane Macdonald had three solo tackles and assisted on six others during the playoff game against Gorton, according to the district. Not to be outdone on offense, the teen caught a 32-yard touchdown in the same game.

Despite his best efforts, Macdonald could not lead the team to victory; Pelham fell to Gorton by a score of 39-22.

On the season, Macdonald recorded 27.5 tackles (20 solo), including 1.5 tackles for a loss, according to the district. He forced one fumble and had two interceptions while starting as a free safety.

The Pelham Memorial High School Pelicans finished the season at 7-2.
