Lakeland High Football Team Excited About Youth Movement

SHRUB OAK, N.Y. - Coming off of a solid 2015 season that saw the Hornets miss the playoffs, but still finish at 5-3, Lakeland High's football team is experiencing a youth movement.

Daily Voice talks to Hornets coach Rob Cappelli and team leaders Brian Farole and Kevin Moore about the upcoming season, which gets underway with a September 2 home opener against Somers at 7 p.m.

Lakeland lost most of the starters from last year's team, leaving the Hornets with a lot of openings for young talent.

And 17th-year head coach Rob Cappelli believes he has the players who have the ability and the determination to do some good things.

"We're very young," Cappelli told Daily Voice during a visit to the Hornets' training camp. "We only have four returning starters with experience, so we'll have to work and grow."
