Cortlandt Manor's Tori Jarosz Wins MAAC Player Of The Week Award For Marist

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- Cortlandt Manor's Tori Jarosz, a senior center on the Marist College women's basketball team,  was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference player of the Week for the second time in her career and second time this season, the conference announced Monday.

The Lakeland High School graduate led the way for the Red Foxes last week, contributing two consecutive double-doubles as the Red Foxes swept their western New York road trip for the fifth consecutive year.

In the Red Foxes first action of the week, Jarosz, scored a career high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, leading the Red Foxes to a win over Niagara, 75-66. Jarosz, a center, finished the game 9-for-17 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the free throw stripe while adding an assist, a block and a steal in 36 minutes of action.

In the next game, Jarosz recorded her eighth double-double of the season, with 22 points and 12 rebounds, as the Red Foxes defeated Canisius, 63-49. Jarosz, the only player on the Red Foxes in double digits, finished 8-for-15 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line while adding an assist in only 21 minutes of action.

To go along with her honor from the MAAC, Jarosz was also named College Sports Madness MAAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her exceptional performance during the past week’s action. She is averaging 17.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. She leads the team in scoring average, rebounds and blocks.

Up next Jarosz and the Red Foxes return home to take on Quinnipiac for the second time this year on Thursday, Feb. 12. at 5 p.m. and then play in their annual "Pack(Pink) the House" game on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.

Marist (16-7, 12-2 in the MAAC) has won five straight games nine of its last 10. Quinnipiac (20-3, 7-0) controls first place in the conference.
