High school Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics Tom Baker, is proud of the department’s accomplishments. “The PE and Health Department had a tremendous 2014-15 school year. We accomplished so much and we look to build on these accomplishments for the upcoming school year. This group of dedicated professionals arrive daily at the various schools of Hendrick Hudson to enhance the wellness of each and every student of the Hen Hud School District.”

This past year, the department participated in the Southern Westchester BOCES Physical Education and Health Education Professional Development Consortium. Here, various members of the department enhanced their professional development by attending various workshops. Elementary teachers Derek Kisslinger and Christine Wickel delivered PE workshops with much success; Baker commented that “the consortium has already approached him about the department conducting more workshops on the Hen Hud best practices.”

Kisslinger, who teaches at Buchanan Verplanck Elementary Schoo,l is enthusiastic for the new year. “I am really looking forward to starting another school year. The opportunity each September to create and provide a brand new exciting physical education experience for our students is truly one of the secret perks of working in education.”
