The schedule for Dec. 11 is:

  • 4:30 p.m. -- Lincoln High School vs. Valhalla High School.
  • 6:15 p.m. -- Roosevelt High School vs. Hen Hud High School.

Jack McGuire was a former Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School student in the Hendrick Hudson school district who passed away in 2007 after a brave fight against leukemia. McGuire’s passion was basketball. In what would be McGuire’s senior year, many of his friends are student-athletes on the varsity basketball team this year. McGuire would be the first tell them his message: “The will inside of us has no measure -- play like a champion today.”

The tournament will be highlighted on Friday when all students in grades five and older, are invited to participate in a 3-on-3 tournament.

Registration will take place at the door, and play is slated for 5 p.m. All players who participate in Friday’s 3-on-3 contest will receive one free raffle ticket that could win this player a pair of tickets to a New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets home game.

All 3-on-3 players will receive a commemorative T-shirt, and the suggested donation is $10 per student. All proceeds go to the Jack McGuire Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is awarded annually to a Hen Hud senior.  Friday will also be the second round of the high school tournament.

Hen Hud will be playing in the 7 p.m. game in a matchup to be determined, while the other game on Friday will begin at 5 p.m.

This year, the Hen Hud athletic department and the boys basketball team will be honoring McGuire with a special ceremony before the 7 p.m. game on Friday.
