Hen-Hud Grad Helps New Paltz Advance In Field Hockey Playoffs

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- Alex Gallo, a graduate of Hendrick-Hudson, scored the go-ahead goal Wednesday to lead SUNY New Paltz to a 6-3 win over Keene State in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Alex Gallo, a graduate of Hendrick-Hudson and a resident of Cortlandt Manor, scored the go-ahead goal for SUNY New Paltz in a 6-3 win over Keene State in an NCAA field hockey playoff game on Wednesday.

Gallo, a senior from Cortlandt Manor, scored with just over 12 minutes remaining to put the Hawks ahead for good. New Paltz, which won its first NCAA Tournament game last year, advances to a game Saturday against the College of New Jersey for a second round contest. Gallo has helped New Paltz reach the NCAA Tournament three straight years.

Gallo is a 2011 graduate of Hendrick Hudson. She started five games this season for New Paltz, and has been an occasional starter throughout her career. She has five goals for the season 

Last year, Gallo was a National Field Hockey Coaches Associaton National Academic Team member and also made the conference's Commissioner's List and all-Academic team. She is the daughter of Dolores and Mario Gallo.
