Hendrick Hudson was chosen as this year’s recipient as a result of the team's fine sportsmanship in the game of basketball.

Glassman was a longtime coach, sectional chairperson and coaches association president in Section One. Glassman was very instrumental in bringing the Section One Girls’ Basketball Tournament to the Westchester County Center. He coached at various schools in Section One, including a brief tenure at Hendrick Hudson.

He always spoke fondly of his experience at Hendrick Hudson and would be delighted with its selection. Glassman passed away last year after a brief illness.

Athletic director Tom Baker was proud of his team’s selection.

“This is a great honor for the girls basketball team, Ken Sherman and all of the Hen Hud community," Baker said. "Bill was a wonderful man, who I was privileged to work with. I am very proud that our team was honored in Bill’s memory.”

Hendrick Hudson will accept the award at the Westchester County Center on Sunday, March 1, at the conclusion of the first quarter of the Girls AA Championship.
