The team then competed in the Grand Champion division alongside the top teams in the other divisions.
“I am beyond proud of these hard-working student-athletes who prove true dedication to the sport on and off the mat," said Head Coach, Nicole Selvaggi-Landry. "It was an amazing ending to our fall competition season."
Cheerleading was recently recognized, by the New York State Public Athletic High School Association as an official sport. “These young ladies have worked extremely hard to get to their level of success," Hen Hud Athletic Director Tom Baker said. "They are a team who is quite visible in our community in a very positive manner. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them compete as athletes this past season, and was very proud of them, when they called our name for first place at the County Center. I couldn’t be more proud of them for this accomplishment. They have made the Hen Hud community proud.” The team is made up of 28 athletes:
Xena Burbano, Kristen Pyrch, Gabby Esposito, Michaella Kear, Melissa McMann, Kacey Albino, Antonia Dolan, Sarah Messinger, Theresa Waitkins, Maiya Aubry, Lauren Kearney, Madison Maiorano, Hannah Sternberg, Danielle Chiappalone, Jena Hanney, Katie Luposello, Nicole Garcia, Ashlyn Haight, Brenna Wassil, Matilda Curley, Taylor Highbloom, Lexie Grullon, Grace Crisci, Samantha Aaronson, Jessica Selvaggi-Landry, Nicole Pennella, Amanda Morabito and Marissa Campanelli.
The team is coached by Coach Nicole Selvaggi-Landry and Coach Patti Peters.
