CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Croton Tigers braved the windy, cold weather Tuesday and used pitcher Christian Doughty's strong left arm to earn a 12-4 victory on opening day of the baseball season.

Doughty pitched six strong innings against the Vikings in 42 degree weather to earn the victory and the Tigers recovered from an early 1-0 deficit to run past the Vikings.

Croton first baseman Chris Dreier had the key hit, a two-run single that gave the Tigers a 4-1 lead and the Tigers scored seven runs in the fourth inning.

Seniors Brian Soares, Adam Shaukat and Brandon Glover led the offense with help from Mike Hrycko, Beau Dorian and Izaak Cohen.  Three rookies playing their first game for Croton – Dreier, Scott Giordano and Kyle Rossini -- made key contributions.

Coach Eric Rosen’s Tigers take on neighboring Hendrick Hudson on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Peekskill Stadium.
