Yorktown High School will be performing "Hello Dolly" on March 6 and March 7 at 7:30 p.m. and on March 8 at 2 p.m. with a special luncheon for seniors at 12 p.m. prior to the matinee.
Arduni said he decided to do "Hello Dolly," which is set in Yonkers, when his seniors were freshmen.
"This is the only musical I've ever planned ahead of time," Arduini said.
"Hello Dolly" is filled with dancing, comedy and many popular showtunes, Arduini said.
"It's a farce," Arduini said. "Our kids have been working very hard."
Arduni and the rest of the cast and crew have no love lost for the winter, which has wrecked havoc on rehearsal. Arduni estimated that he has lost 41 hours of rehearsal time due to snow days.
Gabriella Landicino plays the title character. Landicino, a senior, has performed in "Cabaret," "Sweet Charity," and "Meet Me In St. Louis," during her time at Yorktown High School.
"This has been so much fun," Landicino said. "It's been incredibly intimidating. It's made me grow as a performer and become more confident."
Dolly is a flirtatious, fun and funny woman who is always getting into people's business, Landicino said.
Landicino hopes the audience will realize the little things are important.
"What you think will happen is not always what will happen," Landicino said.
Having to miss so much rehearsal time has been a struggle, Landicino admits.
"It's been a little scary," Landicino said. "But I am confident that we will put on a great show."
Tickets are $10 and are available via the link on the www.yorktown.org website and will also be available at the door 30 minutes before each performance.
