WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Five Westchester Schools were named among the nation's best, according to The Daily Beast.

Hastings was the top-ranked school in the county, coming in at No. 61 with Bronxville just behind at No. 67, The Daily Beast said.

Pelham High School came in at No. 148.

Tuckahoe and  Hendrick Hudson rounded out the Westchester representatives at 378 and 448, respectively.

The Daily Beast compiled its ranking by contacting every school in the country with graduation rates above 85 percent. With approximately 1,200 schools completing the survey, The Daily Beast then ranked each school in the following categories with percentage weights:

  • Four-year cohort graduation rate (30 percent)
  • College acceptance rate (30 percent)
  • College preparedness (30 percent)
  • College enterance exams (10 percent)

I wonder how they rank based on dollars spent per pupil ?

I wonder how they rank 10 years out with measures of student successes in the real world.

Take these lists with a grain of salt.. Scarsdale is not even on the list. They are among the top schools in the nation. They choose to not submit their information to these organizations.

Wonder where Fox Lane will rank? Either way, the BCSD will tell us we're awesome, so there's that.

It is not even on the list.

Way to go Hen Hud. More work to do but on the right track
