The group included students from Christina Connor's Family and Consumer Science class as well as Karen Bloom's Health classes.

The trip was designed to encourage kids to learn about locally grown food available in the Northeast, a subject covered in Connors’s resource management unit.

"We discuss organic and sustainable farming practices in class," said Bloom.

Nutrition was also a theme the students explored during their farm visit.

“The trip tied into the health curriculum's units on nutrition where students are asked to explore healthier food alternatives," said Bloom.

Students also learned practices such as turning cream into butter and they interacted with farm animals including chickens, cows and sheep.

Glynwood Farm, off Route 301, features pasture-raised livestock and 6.5 acres of certified naturally grown vegetable crops.
