CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- All five of the schools in the Hendrick Hudson School District welcomed students back to school on Wednesday.
Hendrick Hudson’s Transportation Supervisor Liz Gilleo reminds area motorists that buses are picking up and dropping off children, and cars must stop for buses with flashing red lights, whether the car is behind the bus or in the approaching lane.
She noted that motorists should also be mindful of students walking to and from school.
School district parents were informed of the unusual school start date, which is due to a later-than- normal Labor Day and the need to get in enough instructional school days during the school year.
However, Gilleo noted, area residents without school-aged children may not realize that school is in session so early.
