She was honored at the Wednesday, Feb. 11 meeting of the Hendrick Hudson School Board
When she was a junior she attended the Certified Nursing Assistant Program, where her teacher, Susan Collins, said she showed “remarkable skill and maturity during the nursing-home rotation.”
Now, as a New Visions Walkabout student, Danahy is “a leader in her academic classes and encourages others to do well by being a conscientious and organized student,” according to teacher Peg Cioffi.
During her extensive research in preparation for her internship, Danahy discovered her interest in social work, which she plans to pursue in college. For her service-learning project, Danahy works at Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Danahy even goes in on her own time, on weekends, and over the recent holiday break. She will be taking the EMT certification course this summer as well.
“Tara is a thoughtful and hardworking student," said Cioffi. "It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to publicly recognize such an outstanding young woman for all of her achievements.”
Danahy is the daughter of Brian and Jessica Danahy, of Montrose.
