LAKELAND, N.Y. Lakeland High Schools drama club, Wig 'n Whiskers, is aiming to inject its audience with laughs this weekend as it presents the second show of the school year.
The drama club is presenting Nunsense a show which promises comedy with an interesting plot filled with tap and ballet-dancing nuns. The director, music and drama teacher Darrin Grimm, said the show features some of Lakelands best talents.
We have a smaller cast, but we really have the best of the best in this show, Grimm said. As a director, when you have kids who are highly qualified you have the opportunity to be more creative.
The drama company puts on at least one show a year, and Nunsense is the second of three shows this year. The play features only five cast members who are all female, and are backed up by a small orchestra. Making all of this work is a large stage crew of students. Grimm estimated a total of 50 students are participating in the production.
The one thing all of these students have in common is they all love to be there, Grimm said. All the kids on and off the stage are there by their own choice. They are there because they love it, and to be with a group of people who share the same interest and passion makes it all very exciting.
Nunsense hits the stage at Lakeland High School Friday evening at Friday at 7:30 and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $10. Reservations can be made by calling (914) 528-0600 ext. 231, or online here.
