CROTON, N.Y. -- Croton-Harmon High School has stepped up its security measures this year by adding "intruder alarm" boxes throughout the school.

The boxes look similar to the typical fire pull alarms, but are blue instead of red.

When the alarm is pulled, an alert is sounded throughout the school and village police are notified.

“Unfortunately, it’s a different society than when I grew up,” Principal Alan Capasso said in a statement. “It’s fundamental that our students and staff be safe in the school.”

The high school now also has a security officer on site and requires all visitors to the school come through the front door.
