County Seeks High School Seniors For Recognition

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 Milly Kibrick Youth Recognition Awards, which will be given out in October at a dinner at New Rochelle's Davenport Club.

The awards honor young men and women who actively work to make a difference in helping to improve their schools, local communities and Westchester County.

“I am so proud of the things our young people are able to accomplish on behalf of others here in Westchester,” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino in a statement. “It is this spirit of volunteerism and commitment to constantly improving that helps make Westchester such a tremendous place.”

Nominations are due no later than June 30. Applications can be obtained online. Nominees must be current juniors, graduating with the class of 2014, who are residents of Westchester County and who deserve to be recognized. These students should exhibit a commitment to learning, positive values, social competencies and a positive identity.

The Youth Board will select up to 10 students for recognition at an awards dinner to take place at the Davenport Club on Oct.16.

The Milly Kibrick Youth Service Awards are given in memory of Milly Kibrick, a prominent county social worker and youth activist who dedicated her life to helping underprivileged children. During her career and in retirement, she was the quintessential social worker, social entrepreneur, volunteer and political activist, pursuing social and economic justice for children of all ages.
