MONTROSE,N.Y.--Hendrick Hudson High School musicians took home more awards than any other school at the "Music in the Parks" adjudicated competition in Massachusetts on May 24. The school’s choral groups: Concert Choir, Harmonizers and Treble Makers, led by Choral Director Erica Denler, and the school’s Band and Wind Ensemble, led by Band Director Benjamin Acrish, competed against other high school choirs and bands at the event. The Wind Ensemble earned second place with a rating of “Excellent.” The concert choir earned a first place distinction with a rating of “Excellent.” The Harmonizers also earned a first place distinction with a rating of “Superior.” The Treble Makers received first place with a rating of “Superior” as well as the honor of being the highest overall scoring choir. Senior Rafiq Taylor was recognized as Outstanding Soloist. In addition, Hendrick Hudson students brought home the Esprit de Corps award, which is given to the school out of all schools competing whose students demonstrated the most maturity, poise, decorum, spirit, cooperation and talent.
