Principal James Mackin gave the opening address, Valedictorian Jennifer Chan and Salutatorian Jodi Scharf gave their respective addresses, and Schools Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter presented a message to graduates before conferring diplomas.
Chan noted in her valedictory address, that “We will forever be sailors, anchored to one another.”
Hochreiter summed up feelings in his farewell address.
“As I wrap up my second year as your superintendent,: he said, "I'm proud to have witnessed, and even participated, in some of your successes: art shows, dramatic performances, music concerts, science fairs, athletic contests, honor society inductions, and many different fund-raising activities. You represented our school, our community, your family with grace and respect.”
In the musical tradition of Hendrick Hudson, the ceremony was punctuated with both orchestral and choral music, beginning with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” and ending with the rousing “Anchors Aweigh.”
