Hen Hud Teachers To Play Basketball's Wizards

MONTROSE, N.Y. – Hendrick Hudson school district administrators and teachers will have another chance to beat the famed Harlem Wizards in a game of hoops. The comedy-themed Wizards basketball team comes to Hen Hud at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m.

“I look forward to playing against them and seeing our students cheering on the Hen Hud teachers,” said John Glashoff, a physical education teacher at Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School.

Team members on the Hen Hud side include Jordan Hirsch, teacher at Blue Mountain Middle School; Derek Kisslinger, physical education teacher at Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School; Jill Davis, director of the Hendrick Hudson Free Library; staff of the Hen Hud Free Library; and members of the Hendrick Hudson Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Wizards are a 50-year New York City institution, growing out of sports promoter Howie Davis' desire to entertain with show basketball. The group now travels to about 315 communities around the United States.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Wizards back to Sailor country for an evening of fun, laughs and, most importantly, an opportunity for our community to support the Hendrick Hudson Community Education Foundation and the worthwhile programs we fund throughout our community and schools,” said Beth Gruber, co-president of the foundation.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance online through a secure PayPal account at the foundation's website. All proceeds will fund grants benefiting education in the Hendrick Hudson Central School District.
