In recognition of National Salute to Veterans Patients Week, the students developed "Valentines 4 Vets," creating Valentine's Day cards for the veterans at FDR Veterans Hospital and New York State Veterans Home in Montrose. Senator Terrence Murphy (R-Yorktown) helped deliver the cards to the vets.

"We owe a debt of gratitude to those individuals who have worn the uniform and protected our nation," said Senator Murphy "Veterans always appreciate heartfelt recognitions of their service. I encourage everyone to visit the veterans in Montrose or their nearest veterans' home to say 'thank you' to these brave men and women."

During National Salute to Veterans Patients Week, individuals and families are encouraged to pay tribute and express appreciation to veterans, increase community awareness of the role of VA medical centers, and encourage citizens to visit hospitalized veterans and become involved as volunteers.
