“Trying to be the best person you can be is being a person of good character,” he explained to the children during his presentation. “When you have respect, there is no room for bullies.”
He further informed the students that it is important to follow rules in school and life, and to make good, responsible choices, even when that is the harder thing to do. Vagias brought three student volunteers and one teacher into his act to perform magic tricks.
He multiplied coins and then said, “When you share, you end up with more.”
He also brought home the point by emphasizing CET’s “No, Go, Tell” policy – telling bullies “no,” going away from the bully and telling an adult.
“Telling isn’t the same as tattling,” he said. “Tattling is when you are trying to get someone in trouble; telling is when you need help.”
CET Assistant Principal Kerry Bianchi said Vagias’ presentation was entertaining and educational.
“The students had a lot of fun,” she said. “They really enjoyed it and learned a lot about bullying.”
