CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Croton-Harmon Education Foundation (CHEF) will hold its back to school fundraiser, "School's In- Eat Out!" Wednesday, Sept. 12, and Croton restaurants are preparing for the rush.

"I staff it like a Saturday night," said Umami Café owner, Craig Purdy. "Because it's a school night they tend to come fast and furious early," he said.

Nine restaurants are participating in the fundraiser, where 10 percent of each diner's check will be donated to CHEF. Portions of dine-in and take-out meals at Capriccio II, Cristina's, India House, Justin Thyme, Memphis Mae's, Samurai, The Tavern, Tenampa and Umami will go to support CHEF's grants.

The non-profit foundation, CHEF, invites teachers and administrators in Croton's three schools to apply for grants in spring and fall. The foundation has raised more than $600,000 since its inception and funded more than 100 grants and pilot projects.

In addition to the back-to-school fundraiser, CHEF also conducts "Dine-a-Round" in the winter, and "Under the Stars Dinner, Dance and Auction" in the spring.
