Croton-On-Hudson Students Exceed Book Drive Goals

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Students at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School in Croton-on-Hudson far surpassed their fundraising goal by donating substantially more to purchase books for two children's charities.

While the PTA's All For Books Challenge aimed to raise $500 it garnered instead a total of $3,029.39.

The funds will be used to buy books for Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations. 

As a reward for for the effort, Principal Kelly Maloney and Assistant Principal Kerri Bianchi dressed up as "monsters" to announce the news at a school assembly.

Students celebrated the achievement with their “monster” administrators by performing the “Monster Mash.” In addition, each of the students had the opportunity to select a book from the donated book table.
