CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The youngest incoming students at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School, in Croton-on-Hudson, had an exciting day of introductions, new friendships and other firsts as they walked into their classrooms for the first time on Sept. 1.
The day began with students, along with their parents, meeting their classroom teachers and getting to know the room where they will spend time learning through June.
Parents then received an introductory presentation in the gym, as students continued to explore their new building.
The shortened day ended with a first-time bus ride for the kindergarten students around the village, and they learned how to safely board, ride and exit school buses.
