Croton-Harmon's varsity wrestling team captured the league title, winning their final six matches and eight of its last nine dual meets.
"This was a total team effort where everyone stepped up to achieve our top team goal of the season," coach Sam Occhipinti.
Croton-Harmon High School’s varsity wrestling team ended the regular season on a strong note, winning the league title.
Occhipinti said he is proud of the team’s efforts outside of training as well.
“They volunteered to assist in the annual blood drive at Croton-Harmon High School and refused community service hours,” he said. “The team also strives to be good students in the classroom as well.”
At the Edgemont Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 28, the team received the Erik B. Cantor Sportsmanship Award for its outstanding conduct during the tournament.
“To me, this award was more important than any other trophy," Occhipinti said. "As it was a reflection of our team’s character as individuals, as well as successful wrestlers.”
