"Slow Down Croton" is the emphasis of a Croton-Harmon school district and village of Croton partnership called the Community Safety Initiative, launching Wednesday.

The emphasis is to make sure there are safe routes to school for drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists.

Proactive measures to make this happen will include a presentation Wednesday at the Croton-Harmon Board of Education meeting for students, residents and community groups. There will be "safe walks" conducted by students. The meeting is 7:30 p.m. at Croton-Harmon High School.

A Tuesday, Sept. 6, Croton village Board of Trustees meeting will highlight a grass-roots marketing effort among village residents. The meeting at 8 p.m. will be at 1 Van Wyck St.
