CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Croton-Harmon School District is stepping up its anti-bullying vigilance by providing students with the "Anonymous Alerts" app, a communication tool to report bullying and safety concerns.

The app allows students to quickly, easily, and anonymously report urgent or sensitive information to authorized school officials.

Students and staff will be able to maintain their confidentiality while calling attention to bullying, safety concerns, family problems or other situations that may warrant immediate attention by school officials.

“The old or traditional way was for a student to submit a paper note in a locked box in front of the principal’s office," said Edward Fuhrman, the superintendent of schools for the district.

In addition to being a proven way of preventing more serious incidents in our schools, this system will also help us minimize the distractions which can often prevent students from getting the most out of their educational experience.”

To use the app, students and school personnel can visit the school district website here , then click on the "Anonymous Alerts" button or text link to submit a message expressing concern.

Anonymous Alerts mobile applications can be downloaded directly from the Apple App Store, Google Play store for Android and the Chrome store app from the Google Chrome store.

Students in the Croton-Harmon School District will be supplied with simple login and password information, making the app easy to use.

Here are the district's plans for Implementation and use of the app:

  • Informational posters explaining how to use the app will be displayed throughout schools and offices in the district.
  • All reports remain completely anonymous, although submitters have the option to reveal their identity if they prefer.
  • The system will be monitored during school days between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
