Croton-Harmon High School Screens 'Girl Rising' Thursday

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Croton-Harmon High School National Honor Society will host a screening of the documentary "Girl Rising" on Thursday.

From Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins, comes 'Girl Rising,' an innovative film about the power of education to change a girl -- and the world.

"Girl Rising" tells the stories of nine girls from different parts of the world who face hardships such as arranged marriages and child slavery but who are able to break barriers and create change through education.

Each girl's story was written by a renowned writer from her native country and narrated by actresses such as Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.

The free screening will be held at the high school's auditorium at 7 p.m. Donations will be accepted.
