For the first time in the organization’s history, CHEF is set to host a spring “Battle Of The Bands” to help raise money and support for the Croton-Harmon School District. The group is set to post flyers Wednesday for the Saturday, May 11 event at Croton-Harmon High School. Musicians of all ages from around Westchester are set to perform but the organization is looking for more bands to join the competition.

“We had conducted a survey of the Croton community in the fall and we heard quite clearly that people were going through some tough financial times and they were looking for more of a community engagement with the foundation,” said CHEF President Lisa Cohen. “We were kicking around ideas for a spring event that the whole community could attend and the Battle of the Bands idea got us all excited.”

Space is limited and applications are being accepted now at crotonchef@gmail.com. An unannounced prize is set to go to the winner of the competition. Proceeds for the event will benefit CHEF and its mission to “support excellence and innovation in the Croton schools by funding initiatives that go beyond traditional classroom learning,” according to a press release.

The event is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. May 11 and will feature a host, live music, food and drink and raffle items. Tickets go on sale April 1, and are $40 for adults and $20 for students. Details, and more information about CHEF, can be found online at crotonfoundation.org.
