Sophie Stumer will follow in the footsteps of her mother, Linda Cohen-Stumer, who attended the school more than 30 years ago and had Swanson, current CCNS director and 3s teacher, as her teacher.

“It’s already an honor for a former student to choose to send their child to our school, but it’s twice the honor that I will be her teacher this year. I believe it’s a testament to how our philosophy of learning through play still stands the test of time,” said Swanson.

CCNS’ warm environment and community spirit were also major deciding factors in the Stumers' decision to enroll Sophie at the school.

“I grew up in Croton, and CCNS was a formative part of my childhood. I want Sophie to experience the same feeling of inclusiveness, parental involvement and partnership,” she said.

The Stumers also have twin 14-month-old daughters.

“I’m fully expecting Barbara to be there in two years to guide and teach my little girls”, said Stumer.
