CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School second-grade students in Croton were empowered to take charge of their concert this year by selecting their own roles – ranging from performer to set designer and narrator – and showed off the finished project.
"Each class had a musical number … and the entire grade was in the opening and closing,” said music teacher Marlena Roberts. “The classes had to decide what props they needed, where the settings were and helped to choreograph their songs.”
The result was the production of “There’s a Wolf at the Door” on Nov. 20.
“This was a very large endeavor for students so young and so early in the year,” said Roberts, “but I am thrilled to say they pulled it off and did an amazing job.”
