Criminal complaints for stealing $3,500 worth of jewelry while working as a housekeeper were served by Franklin Lakes detectives on 23-year-old Aleksandra Polkowska at the Bergen County Jail, where she remained held today.

Charges from four different Bergen towns have pushed her bail to a combined $75,000. A warrant also was issued out of Boonton, where detectives charged Polkowska with stealing nearly $3,000 worth of jewelry from a home where she worked last year.

Garfield police arrested Polkowska and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Dariusz Soltys, two weeks ago after spotting him in the area of a break-in burglary that netted several hundred dollars in cash and jewelry the day before on Orchard Street.

Interrogating him at headquarters, detectives connected Polkowska to the burglary, in which they said Soltys broke in through a first-floor rear window. Three hours later, they had her in custody.

Upper Saddle River police charged Polkowska with theft two days later.

Last week, Wallington detectives charged Polkowska and and former borough resident Christine N. Brigida, 20, to an attempted diversion burglary from late last month.

Brigida claimed that Polkowska solicited her for a ride “for dope money.”

Detectives in various jurisdictions were comparing notes when Polkowska was tied to the Boonton theft on Feb. 20, 2014, and the one on Glen Place in Franklin Lakes last Nov. 14, authorities said.
