Kids who take part in the City Mural Workshop during the Family ArtsBash will imagine how they would enrich one-square block in downtown White Plains with their own artwork. All artwork will add to the growing outdoor "wall mural" throughout the day Saturday.

The ArtsBash began Friday and centered around ArtsWestchester's current exhibit, "Placemaking: Re-envisioning White Plains." It is intended to give residents a sense of how public art can animate, distinguish, and enliven their streetscape. It includes work from 26 artists and is on display from May 21 to July 13. ArtsWestchester also offered tastings from more than 30 restaurants Friday.

ArtsBash attendees can also meet ArtWestchester's live-in artists, who rent studios at the nonprofit's facility, the Art Exchange, at 31 Mamaroneck Ave. They include painters, sculptors and fashion designers, who will open their studios for you to view their works in progress.

Other Family ArtsBash activities Saturday include hat decorating, LEGO workshop, visual arts workshops and “Puzzlemania,” an interactive game in which children collect puzzle pieces to put together a puzzle magnet. A complete list of the day's activities is available on the ArtsWestchester website
