Cortlandt Condo At Valeria Combines Early Architecture With Latest Updates

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. -- The wife of American industrialist Jacob Langelot developed Valeria nearly 100 years ago according to the wishes of her late husband, who directed that his Cortlandt Manor estate be used as a place of rest, relaxation and recreation for people of education and refinement at an affordable cost.

Houlihan Lawrence Realtor Barbara Ward’s listing at 341-11 Furnace Dock Road at Valeria incorporates Langelot’s vision, albeit in a different manor than Langelot envisioned.

Valeria is now townhomes and condominiums. Ward’s listing is a two-bedroom, two-bath condo with 1,791 square feet with spectacular views of fountains, a pond and landscaping that takes the homeowner back to Langelot’s original vision. The asking price is $475,000, one of the best bargains in Westchester County. Ward will host an Open House on Sunday, Dec. 6, from 1-3 p.m.

“Nature, serenity and old world charm best describe this beautiful community,’’ Ward said.

Architectural plans for Langelot’s dream at Valeria were approved in 1921. Recently immigrated Italian masons spent three years on the property to complete every structure as a work of art.

Valerie Langelot, Jacob's wife, visited the oasis every Sunday, and by 1949 an estimated 125,000 visitors had enjoyed Valeria’s facilities. The resort included 121 employees, nearly 200 daily guests and a par-3 golf course.

The homes at Valeria combine the old world elegance with the new world luxury. Amenities at the complex include a community pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, basketball courts and classic scenery.

The condo includes a beautifully redesigned kitchen. The master suite includes a walk-in closet and one other large closet, a renovated bathroom and a stackable washer and dryer. The spacious second bedroom includes a wall of closets and a bathroom. There is also a decorative wrought iron gate leading to the library in the home. Monthly dues covers heat, hot water and basic cable.

With the renovations and updates in the interior, and the brick and old-time charm on the outside, the home is a perfect blend of old and new.

Valeria also includes a 43-acre lake and pristine woods surrounding the complex. It is also convenient to major thoroughfares.
