YONKERS, N.Y. -- State Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins will be inducted into The Westchester Women’s Hall of Fame during the Westchester Women’s Research and Education Fund 7th annual "In The Company of Women" luncheon on Friday, May 6, in Tarrytown.

The non-profit organization promotes equality and justice for women in Westchester County through training, advocacy and recognition of their achievements.

Stewart-Cousins has served in the State Senate since 2007, representing the 35th District. The Yonkers resident was selected because “She espouses the values of empathy, empowerment and civic engagement. Her strong belief in advocating for the under served and championing the needs of working families, has distinguished her as a trailblazer," said organization officials.

Bonnie St. John, a best-selling author, inspirational speaker and a medal-winning Para-Olympic skier, will deliver the keynote address for the event.

Despite having her right leg amputated at age five, St. John became the first African-American ever to win Olympic or Paralympic medals in ski racing, taking home a silver and two bronze medals in downhill events at the 1984 Paralympics in Innsbruck, Austria.

The luncheon, hosted by the YMCA White Plains and the Central Westchester Women's Research and Education Fund, will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Westchester Marriott, 670 White Plains Road.
